I've Done Nothing Wrong

I've Done Nothing Wrong

There seems to be no limit to the way that we can cover our sins and guilt with words of denial. We lie and cheat, but deny being liars. We scheme and plan, but consider ourselves upright and moral. We sin and believe we have done nothing wrong. The words of an adulterous woman in the Bible are, "She eats, wipes her mouth and says, ‘I have done nothing wrong'" (Proverbs 30:20). King Saul of Israel had sinned before God, but his proclamation was, "I have performed the commandment of the Lord" (1 Samuel 15:13).

Each person has sinned to the degree that it could cost them eternal life. The only road back is to acknowledge the sin and repent, thereby receiving forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Then we must show the fruits of repentance, which are to wage a continual war against sin. God sees every sinful act, and we have nowhere to hide. We have done wrong, and God reaches out His hand to help us climb out of the pit into which we have fallen.
